Email marketing on platforms that won’t ban you
CBD and vape are repeat-purchase products, which makes email the most profitable channel most brands own. It is also the channel most likely to vanish overnight when a platform decides it no longer likes your category. We build email programmes on platforms whose terms permit your products, and run them compliantly.
What we build
Platform selection & migration
A platform whose acceptable-use policy actually allows CBD (and, where lawful, vape) — with your lists, flows and history migrated safely off one that doesn’t.
Lifecycle flows
Welcome, first-purchase education, replenishment reminders timed to product usage, abandoned cart, win-back, VIP and review requests.
Segmentation
By product type, strength, purchase frequency and engagement — so an oil customer isn’t hearing about disposables.
Campaigns & content
Launches, education, bundles and seasonal campaigns written claim-safe and designed to render everywhere.
SMS
Compliant, opted-in SMS for CBD brands; vape SMS is restricted and we advise case by case.
Deliverability & compliance
Authentication (SPF, DKIM, DMARC), list hygiene, PECR consent and unsubscribe handling, TRPR review for any vape content.
Why platform choice is the whole game
Mailchimp prohibits CBD outright and has closed accounts without warning. Several other mainstream tools do the same. A handful of well-known ecommerce email platforms permit hemp-derived CBD merchants under conditions, and some smaller providers have no restrictions at all. Which is right for you depends on your products, your store platform and your volume — and the answer changes, which is why we keep a current shortlist rather than publishing one here.
For vape brands the constraint is legal rather than commercial: the TRPR restricts advertising nicotine vape products by email as a form of online media. Transactional email, account and order information, and certain factual communications remain available, and we structure vape email programmes around what is permitted.
Rule of thumb: your customer list should always be exportable and backed up. We set that up on day one, whatever the platform.
Typical results we aim for
- Email contributing 20–35% of ecommerce revenue for established CBD brands
- Replenishment flows timed to product size and typical usage
- Repeat-purchase rate and customer lifetime value as the primary KPIs
Email marketing FAQs
Can I use Mailchimp for a CBD business?
No — Mailchimp’s acceptable-use policy prohibits CBD, and accounts are routinely closed. We migrate CBD brands away from it regularly.
Which email platforms allow CBD?
Several do, with conditions, and the list changes. We recommend from a current shortlist based on your store platform and needs, rather than naming one here that may have changed its policy by the time you read this.
Can vape shops send marketing emails?
Promotional email for nicotine e-cigarettes and e-liquids is restricted under the TRPR. Transactional and account emails are fine, and there is some room for factual communications; we advise on what is permitted for your products.
Do you write the emails?
Yes — strategy, copy, design and build, or any subset if you have an in-house team.
